About

Hey

I’m Darcy. I’m female, thirty-something, born and bred Londoner to two working class parents (one of whom was partial to a bit of Jane Austen, obviously). My two main loves are drinking and dogs, but also pretty fond of writing. I pay the bills by working in marketing, which I’ve been doing for about 13 years now. My sense of humour veers between 15 year old boy to cynical old wino.

About Thirty Secrets

For me, the transition from the 20s to 30s was quite a journey. I’m recently married (happily so far!) but I have a bit of a…let’s say, colourful relationship past and was a divorcee at just 25. Turning 30 felt like quite a big deal for me, as melodramatic as that perhaps was. However it’s been an eye-opener moving into this next stage of my life and I’ve learned stuff about myself and the world that continues to surprise and intrigue (not to mention scare) me.

When I initially got the idea for the Thirty Secrets blog, I did a bit of research on what other stuff there is on this sort of topic. I was overwhelmed with the amount of mega-positive lifestyle blogs full of people making homemade kimchi and doing yoga in their ethical gym wear. I’m not knocking the aspirational stuff, it’s admirable in fact, but it’s just not really my thing. So I set out to write the kind of things I would want to read. It’s a light-hearted take on life in your thirties; a mix of positive, negative, thoughtful, as well as some reviews/recommendations, and a bit of bollocks in between.
